Is it just me or did this summer just fly right by? I guess it's true, time flies when you're having fun! I feel like it was just yesterday that we were strolling down a tropical beach with glasses of champagne without a care in the world. NO, that's totally NOT normal but Brett and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary! Anyways, I'm already starting to feel those end-of-summer blues. Are you? We can't help it because summer is all about spending time with family, friends, enjoying barbecues and beach days, and going on vacations. It's also about relaxing, recharging and indulging in all our fave summer-time foods and libations! Ummm, hello lobster rolls and aperol spritz!
So with summer officially ending, now is the perfect time to take some inventory, revisit your personal goals, re-organize and set a plan of attack for fall. Before you know it, the holidays will be upon us and life will get extremely hectic so time is of the essence!
End of Summer Inventory List:
Step #1: Reevaluate your fitness goals. Did you get off track this summer? That's okay, don't beat yourself up about it! Now's the time to schedule your workouts and put those goals into writing. So go get your journal out and write down a list of realistic and attainable goals for the next few months. Ex: I commit and successfully work out at least 4-5x's a week. I'm going to look and feel amazing in my favorite cocktail dress that I'll be wearing in December. I'm going to eat healthfully and clean during the week and allow myself one "fun" meal on the weekend. These goals can be ANYTHING.
Tip: Be sure to write in the present tense, as if you've already smashed them! Say your goals out loud daily and give yourself grace and patience. Make them realistic and specific to avoid feelings of frustration or anxiety.

Step #2: Clean out your summer closet. Now it's time to make room for all your fall and winter goodies. Remember: Winter Is Coming! If you haven't worn that sundress in two years, chances are you probably won't wear it again. So do some good, and donate it. The simple act of de-cluttering your closet will reset your mind and make room for the new. Personally, I get super anxious if my closet is a hot mess, unorganized and cluttered with things I never wear. Try to carve out some time, even if it's here and there and go through all your summer outfits and decide if you need it or if it's just keeping space and collecting dust.
Tip: Create 3 different piles. 1.) Must have! 2.) Sorta like it still. 3.) It's seen its last day and I won't cry when it's gone. Keep your stockpiles for a few days, see how you feel and look over them carefully. If you haven't changed your mind, then VOILA send it off to donate!
Step #3: Set up self care schedule. YES, you heard right! Let's continue that relaxing summer-time theme all the way through fall. Why stop now?! This is the perfect time to be diligent on taking care of yourself before the holiday madness sets in. Let's face it: the holidays can bring on a lot of unwanted stress, anxiety, sadness, overwhelm, and pressure. From traveling, cooking, gift giving and high expectations sometimes the most "joyous" time of year can be quite unpleasant. So let's get that mind right! First, figure out what self care means to you. It can be a night of Netflix binging, or getting some extra sleep, reading a good book, taking a bath, doing more of your B&B workouts, getting a massage, or maybe going for a mani & pedi. Whatever makes you feel good, relaxed and sane, I want you to do it! Just like you schedule in your weekly sweat sesh's, do the same to take time for YOU.
Tip: Treat your self care days just like an appointment that you shouldn't miss!
