Tips for Travel!

Hi from Cali! Since I'm on the West Coast this week doing double duty (filming for PopSugar and B&B) I figured I'd drop you all a little line. I love staying out here. I mean, what's not to love about sunny California? Beautiful beaches, gorgeous people, great food, fun nightlife, perfect weather (well, almost perfect weather. Apparently I brought some epic Miami rain with me) - what more could you ask for? Even though I'm here to work I'm going to have a grand ole time - hey, that's what the B&B life is about anyway!

To make the most out of my journey here are my tips for a successful workation, staycation or any kind of vacation in general:

✔ Pack Lightly! Ok, this might not be possible if you are traveling with kids, but if you are kiddo free try to fit everything in a carry-on bag. Not having a checked bag makes the airport a breeze. Plus, you know the airline won't lose your luggage. You can totally recycle outfits by switching up the tops (or bottoms) and adding a light jacket or additional accessories. And on the off chance you forgot anything, a quick target run can solve all problems!

✔ Sleep, Sleep and More Sleep! Sleep is crucial when you are away, just as it is when you are home. There can be a lot of stress working on the road and pressures with deadlines and presentations. The same is true if you are vacationing with family - it's hard to please everyone all the time. In the long run sacrifices have to be made, but sleep shouldn't be compromised. Try to get to bed before the witching hour, sleep in late or bring your own pillow if you have to! But make sure you are getting enough sleep.

✔ Eat, Drink and Be Merry! Vacations are all about dining out, but you should still be conscious of what you are putting into your body. The excuse of "eat it now 'cause I'm on vacation and diet later when I get home" is so pass. Even though I don't see diets (not a fan of that word) as a one size fits all system there is still accountability involved in eating correctly while away from home. With that said, I loooove to eat. So yes, I will be having that glass of wine and french fries, but I will indulge wisely and compensate for extra calories elsewhere. (And maybe throw in an extra Knockout Abs to my daily workout or eat ultra clean for the next meal).

✔ Break A Sweat. Your hotel/air bnb doesn't have a gym? No problem. Go for a run outside, walk around the neighborhood, find a set of stairs and climb up and down for 30 mins, or do a Boxing & Bubbles workout on your phone. Getting good exercise is easy - just be active and keep it moving!

✔ Most Importantly Have Fun. Whether it's a workation, staycation or vacation make sure you always have a smile on your face!
