Not Feeling Enough During The Holidays?
Not Feeling Enough During The Holidays?

Are you not feeling enough? Feeling overwhelmed? Can't get anything checked off your "to do" list? Comparing yourself to others on social media? Can't find the time to squeeze in your workouts?

Well, I'm here to reassure you that you're NOT ALONE. It's so easy, especially this time of year, to feel like there isn't enough time in the day to get everything done. I FEEL YOU. The holidays can be completely overwhelming! So I wanted to share some tips and tricks to get you through all the craziness while keeping your sanity.

Step #1: Give yourself some slack. Remember that you're doing the absolute best you can and there's only ONE of you. Since we don't have a few clones running around (wouldn't that be awesome?!) try and prioritize your time as best as you can.

Step #2: Make small goals. Little wins are always great to celebrate. Plus, it feels nice to give yourself a pat on the back. This is not a participation trophy! You still need to accomplish a goal - it just doesn't need to be a Mount Everest sized one. Checking things off your "to do" list feels amazing so make sure your goals are bite sized and attainable.

Step #3: Give yourself a 24 hour social media detox. Focus on some "YOU" time and don't worry about keeping up with the Joneses (they will still be there tomorrow, I promise).

Step #4: Find one thing that makes you happy! It can be a candle that smells great, a picture you love, a poem, etc. Put/hang it in a place that you see regularly. It could your kitchen, dining room table or your workout room. Having a visual "happy cue" helps reset the brain and keeps you focused on something positive vs. how tough your day was.

Step #5: If you don't feel like working out then DON'T. Seriously! I always tell my members to listen to their bodies. So if you're feeling super stressed and run down, then REST and RECOVER. No need to feel guilty or worry that'll lose all that hard work. If you find yourself busy but still want to squeeze in a sweat sesh - maybe try scheduling in a short warm up or a stretch. Getting the body moving even for a short period of time will make you feel better. Remember step #2, small goals for the win!

I'm not going to tell you to relax or breathe or meditate. That's too cliche! This is just about taking a moment to chill, be with yourself and realize that YOU are all that you ever need. Try giving yourself some patience, love and grace during this hectic time of year.
